Preparation for your Mobile CT Rental:
Space:
- Have a concrete “pad” where the mobile CT can be safely parked
- Do not park on asphalt, asphalt softens in heat and the trailer stands will leave hazardous indentations
- *SOLUTION FOR NO CONCRETE SPACE*; if it needs to be parked on asphalt, the feet of the stands can rest on metal plates to distribute the weight and reduce the likelihood of damage, contact MedcoBlue if metal plates are needed.
- Consider possible impacts of Magnet Field while scanning (delivery trucks, dump trucks, trains)
- Magnetic exclusion Zone: 8ft from Trailer walls
- Make space, the trailer is 48’ long, 8.5 feet wide and 13.5 feet tall, but a semi tractor is required to move and park the system, bringing the total length you will need closer to around 60’. Be conscious of turning radius and space requirements for basic maneuvering
- Check for clearance around anything that emits large amounts of electricity, as this can interfere with the magnet
- Storage compartments and service doors require access during procedures as well as during operation
Network:
- To allow the system in the trailer to connect to your network and send images to your PACS system, install an exterior network connection beside the power connection
- Schedule an IT team member for the day your trailer arrives to work with the setup engineer to make the connection. Having an IT team member present during applications training to make sure protocols are set up correctly is also a good idea.
Power:
- An external source of electricity is needed prior to delivery of your mobile system, which we can easily work with your facility or a local electrician to provide, the mobile CT units require 480 volt, 200 amp, 3-phase electrical service via Russellstoll receptacle
- Can also run on a generator which must remain active 24/7 while running the equipment
- Connecting the trailer to your facility's electrical service is a less expensive and more environmentally friendly option than using a generator, as generators run on diesel fuel
Requires consumables
- Think ahead about what injector syringes, dyes, printer files, etc. you'll need
- If needed, have an ER gurney on hand, Some gurneys are too long for the patient lift, so shorter gurneys may need to be ordered ahead of time. Check with your MedcoBlue for the dimensions of the patient lift.
State Regulations:
- States have different regulations for mobile PET/CT trailers. Talk to your state's department of health to determine what documents are needed from your facility and the mobile provider
- For states that require a certificate of need (CON), there may be some additional application and documentation that you will have to take care of via state channels
States that require a CON:
